DCM GymComing August 2013!
Ready, set, sweat!
Challenge yourself to higher performance levels in the DCM Gym, where the focus is on the anatomy and physiology of athletic performance.
Find out what gets your heart pumping as you try some new and old-favorite physical feats and discover how exercise and training benefit athletes of all ages and skill levels.
Work around the "circuit" in the DCM Gym and hit all these interval stations:
Aerobic Exercise
Roll a die to pick an aerobic activity, and do it continuously for 15 or 30 seconds. Keep going! Roll again for another activity, and do that for 15 or 30 seconds. Keep going! Roll again, and keep going until you've done all the activites on the die.
Agility
Follow the feet pasted on the floor as you jump through the agility ladder.
Balance
Use the balance steppers to take a little walk. Go forward. Try going backward. Can you weave through the cones?
Endurance
Grap a jump rope and skip for 30 seconds. Can you do it? How about for a minute?
Flexibility
Bend over backwards in a limbo move. How low can you go?
Hand-Eye Coordination
Shoot the ball into the net from different spots on the floor.
Motor Skills
Play toss-and-catch with a partner and a beanbag. Try clapping, spinning, and touching your toes before you catch a toss.
Speed
Grab a beanbag, dash to the goal, drop it in, and go back for another. How many can you sink in 30 seconds?
Strength
Stand at the line and use your leg muscles to jump as far as you can on the mat. How'd you do?
