"The Power of Voices"

The DCM will celebrate the work and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in an interactive program and gallery called “The Power of Voices.” Hear Dr. King’s voice, express your own dreams for the future, make a peace sign, and much more! Be sure to check out the original portrait of Dr. King in the new temporary exhibition, Etch A Sketch® People, Presidents, and Places.

 

All programs are free with general Museum admission.

 

 

 

 

Saturday, January 14—

 

"The Power of Voices" (10am-3pm)
In a gallery filled with the sounds of Dr. King's words, write your own hopes and dreams for the world on the DCM's peace scrolls.

 

"Open Studio" (10am-3pm)

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at the DCM. Share your wishes and dreams for the world, decorate a peace magnet, build an igloo with marshmallows, and cozy up on the
carpets to read and build with family and friends.

 

 

Sunday, January 15—

"Story Time with Nana Feather" (1:30pm)

Join our master storyteller, Nana Feather, for a delightful reading and musical experience.


 

Monday, January 16—

The Museum is open 9am to 4:30pm on the holiday.

"Dance and Sing with Della Where" (11am-1pm)
Come dance, delight, and discover with the DCM's own Della Where, the small puppet with a big personality. Play "Della Says" and groove along with her as she demonstrates a new dance
and ditty.


Special Performance—"Lift Every Voice" (12pm)

Join us for a special a cappella tribute honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., presented by choir members from Wilmington’s Trinity Episcopal Parish, led by Terrence Gaus-Woollen. Performing from the winding steps of the DCM's 30-foot Stratosphere, the choir members' vocal celebration will illuminate the power of all our words and voices.

"$2 Night" (5-7pm)

Visit the Museum in the evening hours for just $2 per visitor. Enjoy all the hands-on exhibits together and join us in the Delaware College Investment Plan Studio D gallery, where you can share your wishes and dreams for the world and decorate a peace magnet. The DEcafe snack spot will be open if you would like to purchase snacks, sandwiches, pizza, or drinks.
